Heidi Vierthaler

“Listening to the body and allowing it to speak in different contexts requires vulnerability.”

Heidi Vierthaler is a German-American choreographer and movement researcher based in Amsterdam, with a 40-year career spanning roles as a dancer, educator, and multidisciplinary creator. Following her education and company years with Pacific Northwest Ballet, she collaborated with groundbreaking choreographers such as William Forsythe, Ohad Naharin, Mari Kajiwara, and Budo master Akiro Hino. These experiences introduced her to a lawless yet safe space for exploring the boundless possibilities of the dancing body, laying the foundation for her richly creative journey.

With a passion for both well being and dance, Heidi communicates through her Streamflow Movement Method, fostering respectful dialogue with leading contemporary dance companies and organisations worldwide. Her work creates pathways for new artistic collaborations while strengthening her connections with diverse dance communities and visual artists, such as film, design, craftmanship and immersive audience experiences.

From 2007 to 2022, Heidi taught and created more than 25 works for the

University of the Arts in Amsterdam, and numerous other university dance programs throughout Europe. In 2023 she became a guest professor at the Folkwang University in Essen, to create for the masters program, and integrate her Streamflow Method to all levels of the dance education. Her Streamflow Method is featured in the publication : Practicing Dance, A Somatic Orientationt; “How the Pursuit of Accessing the individual led me to Streamflow

Her past company creations include collaborations with Compañía Nacional de Danza, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, the Netherlands Dance Theater Summer Intensive, and the Modafe Festival in Seoul, South Korea. More recently, she has created works for Dutch Design Week, Cinedans Festival, Regionsteater Väst, and is soon set to premiere 2 more new works for Skånes Dansteater, with additional projects coming soon.

Luca Cacitti

Luca Cacitti was born in Italy in 1989 and began his dance journey with Ballroom and Latin American dance at the age of 6. In 2007, he moved to the Netherlands, where he studied at Codarts and had the opportunity to learn various dance techniques and styles.

He joined Noord Nederlands Dans in 2010 performing various works of Stephen

Shropshire as well as other prominent choreographers. Since 2012, he has been based in Amsterdam, collaborating as a freelance-artist with different choreographers and directors across Europe.

He is currently performing with OFFprojects, directed by Amos Ben-Tal.

Throughout his career, Luca has been driven by a deep curiosity about the endless possibilities of the body, both in performance and in therapeutic contexts. Alongside his work as a dancer, he became a certified Gyrotonic trainer, Ilan Lev practitioner, and yoga instructor, seeking healing practices to support the demands of a professional dance

career.

In the artistic field, this exploration deepened through his ongoing collaboration with Heidi and her Stream Flow method, which began when he settled in Amsterdam. Since 2013 ,Luca has been an integral part of Stream Flow’s development, supporting Heidi in shaping the method and expanding its reach. He continues to assist her in leading workshops, creative projects, and commissioned works across Europe, while also teaching the method in various institutions and dance companies.
